About Julie
Education
Julie has a PhD in Health Psychology and two Masters degrees, one in Community Counseling with a focus on marriage and family counseling and another in nutrition with an educational psychology minor. Her training in transpersonal therapies began in 2001 with two courses: “Spirituality & Healing in Medicine” and “Skills Training for Mind/Body Change” at the Mind/Body Medical Institute of Harvard Medical School. Since then she has also become an Advanced Certified Heart-Centered Hypnotherapist, a Certified Release Therapist (breath therapy), and a Certified RoHun Therapist. She has also been trained in subtle energy healing.
Julie is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Illinois. She is a member in good standing in the Association for Humanistic Psychology, the Association for Transpersonal Psychology, the Heart-Centered Therapies Association, and the National Board of Certified Clinical Hypnotherapists.
Experience
Julie has over thirty years experience in counseling beginning in the early 1970’s as a faculty advisor to nursing students and counseling patients about life-style changes to improve their health. She also did academic and career counseling for adults in the 80’s and 90’s. She has almost 15 years of experience working in hospital and clinic settings and has been in private practice since January 2004.
Julie presents workshops on stress management, “Relaxation Techniques in the Treatment of Anxiety, Pain, and Depression,” “The Power of Intention and Affirmations,” The Power of Forgiveness” and “Healthy Couple Relationships.” All presentations include experiential processes. These presentations are given in a variety of settings including churches, doctors’ offices, libraries, and corporations.
